Easton’s Olympic Hertiage
152 MEDALS – 36 YEARS – 10 CITIES – 1 EASTON Easton’s Olympic heritage and competitive spirit runs deep and strong. It stems from a commitment to delivering the very best archery equipment possible. When Doug Easton started making cedar arrows for himself and others, his drive was to make the straightest, most accurate arrow the industry had ever seen. His insatiable desire led him to development straighter and more consistent aluminum arrows. This new advancement brought growing enthusiasm and never-before-seen accuracy to archery. It is that kind of passion, to be the very best, that fuels Olympic archers to achieve victory. With a shared drive for excellence, Olympic athletes have used the precision of Easton arrows to win 152 medals since archery was reinstated for the 1972 games. Like his father Doug, Jim Easton possesses a passion for archery and has become very involved in the promotion and growth of the sport. Jim served as the President of FITA, the international governing body of archery, from 1989 to 2005. His efforts to make archery a more exciting spectator sport paid off when the new ‘Olympic Round’ was developed in 1992. This concept of head-to-head competition made for exciting television and spectator involvement in the 1992 games and was adopted for future Olympic competition. In 1994, Jim Easton was named to the International Olympics Committee Representative for the United States where his involvement helped shape the future of all Olympic sports and their participants. Not only does Easton produce arrows for world competition, Easton provides the on-site technical needs of the athletes for years. Easton hosts the archery equipment repair and technical assistance area for the Beijing Games. Easton expert technicians were on hand for every practice and competitive sessions. The “tech booth”is there to provide emergency parts and tuning for the athletes at the games.
