JOB SUMMARY
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for providing engineering support to manufacturing processes through research, design and development, technical assistance, process development and documentation. The Manufacturing Engineer is to act as part of a team to improve manufacturing techniques and machinery to insure reliability, efficiency, and quality of our products.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
To manage the development and implementation of new equipment and processes:

Provide cost and payback analysis for contingent projects

Design new manufacturing processes, machines and operations
-
Provide critical comments regarding new product; so as to preclude manufacturing obstacles
-
Modify existing equipment to accommodate new product or specifications
-
Identify or design the most efficient and cost effective processes and implement them
-
Design tooling to support various processes
-
Author capital expenditure requests of production equipment including cost breakdown, cost justification, and ROI calculations
-
Suggest improvements for areas of responsibility
To maintain process records and documentation:
-
Develop step-by-step process routings for M2K including support specifications, drawings, tooling, and labor standards
-
Maintain process records and machine documentation including computer programs, drawings, bill of materials, and maintenance schedules
-
Write procedures for new processes
-
Identify high scarp areas and develop action plans to reduce
-
Handle ECRs, NECs, and DCRs including drawing revisions
To maintain and support equipment and processes:
-
Oversee machine operations and processes requiring technical support
-
Assist and/or perform repairs when an identified problem requires engineering support
-
Identify safety hazards and develop action plans to rectify the situation
To implement and maintain computer hardware/software related to equipment:
-
Troubleshoot machines or process failures using PLC man-machine interfaces
-
Provide support for existing computer software used in inspection or statistical sampling
-
Provide computer interfaces or automation to existing and new equipment using state of the art computer programming language
To provide research and testing:
-
Conduct testing and analysis; including reports
-
Provide technical support to internal departments pertaining to process or equipment capabilities
-
Interact with vendors and outside customers to assure expectations of design and/or function are met
-
Search for ways to improve productivity in manufacturing process
To assist in the management and training of personnel:

Coach efforts and development of engineering interns
-
Assist in training operators for new machines and processes
-
Provide leadership support for projects and areas of responsibilities
-
Work with department leads on areas of improvement and machine upgrades
-
Manage technical and maintenance personnel assigned to major projects
-
Provide communication and reports to management and area personnel to better facilitate operations
JOB REQUIREMENTS
-
BS Mechanical Engineering required
-
Two to five years of experience in Engineering, Computers, and Manufacturing
-
Strong engineering and machine design skills
-
Knowledge of material processing such as drawing tubing or composite manufacturing processes
-
Solid knowledge of manufacturing practices including thermal processing, metal forming, anodizing, machining, and pultrusion
-
Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) as set forth in ANSI Y14.5

Computer skills in design drawing (CAD), word processing, spreadsheets, and graphics and ability to work with and configure computer software and hardware to suit needs
-
Basic knowledge of Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) operations and uses to include programming and troubleshooting
-
Good verbal and written communication skills
-
Project management skills and ability to complete several projects simultaneously

Ability to maintain a working knowledge of current design and automation technology
