European Championship
Team Easton takes all Gold medals and 59/66 total medals awarded at European Championship/Olympic Qualifying Event in Amsterdam
The European Archery Championships took place from 21-27 May in Amsterdam (Netherlands). Four new individual champions were crowned: Rick VAN DER VEN (NED), Ksenia PEROVA (RUS), Sergio PAGNI (ITA) and Kristina BERGER (GER).
Team Easton shooters again totally dominated the medal count and the podium at the 20th European Outdoor Target Championship taking every single gold medal in every individual category- Men’s recurve individual, Women’s recurve individual, as well as in Men’s recurve teams, Women’s recurve teams, Compound men’s teams, Recurve mixed teams and Compound mixed teams.
Easton shooters also won every Olympic slot earned through the Continental Quota/Qualification Tournament (CQT), a separate event that decided Olympic Games slots for countries that didn’t earn them at the World Championship last year.
Team Easton stars included Rick van der Ven (NED) taking men’s recurve, Gau Matzkin (ISR) and Iria Grandal (ESP) taking the CQT 1st place slots, Ksenia Perova (RUS) winning women’s recurve, Kristina BERGER (GER) winning women’s compound and leading the German Women’s team to victory, Sergio PAGNI (ITA) wining men’s compound, and the all-Easton teams of Netherlands (Mixed team compound and recurve men), France (men’s compound and women’s recurve), Italy (recurve mixed team).
With wind blasts of up to 25 mph in the stadium for the finals, it was Easton technology which helped the winners to the top steps of the podium. “My Easton Pro Tours were perfect for in the tough windy conditions here in the Amsterdam Olympic Stadium” said Sergio Pagni, men’s compound champion. “The hard wind blasts combined with the architecture of the stadium to make it a real challenge- but my Easton X10 shafts tracked perfectly despite the gusts” said recurve men’s champion Rick van der Ven.
